QuickBooks error 15225 occurs during payroll updates. It is a QuickBooks 15xxx error. You might see this error because of network connection problems, incorrect internet settings, or outdated security certificates.
Causes of QuickBooks Error 15225:
Incorrect settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer block downloads.
QuickBooks cannot verify the digital signature of downloaded files.
Unstable internet connection.
Incomplete QuickBooks installation.
Corrupted Windows Registry.
Before you start, create a backup:
Open QuickBooks Desktop.
Go to the File menu.
Select Back Up Company.
Choose Local Backup and click Next.
How to fix QuickBooks error 15225:
Method 1: Update QuickBooks in Safe Mode
Restart your computer.
Press F2 repeatedly to open Advanced Boot Options.
Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.
Open QuickBooks, go to Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop.
Click Update Now, check Reset Update, and click Get Updates.
After downloading, click Install Now and then Close.
Method 2: Add Intuit as a Trusted Site
Open Internet Explorer.
Click the Gear icon > Internet Options.
Go to the Security tab > Trusted Sites > Sites.
Add these domains:
US users: .quickbooks.com and .intuit.com
Canadian users: .quickbooks.ca and .intuit.ca
Click Add, Close, Apply, and OK.
Method 3: Install QuickBooks Digital Security Certificate
Find QuickBooks.exe on your computer.
Right-click and select Properties.
Go to the Digital Signatures tab and select Intuit Inc.
Click Details > View Certificate > Install Certificate.
Follow the prompts until Finish.
Restart your computer and try updating QuickBooks again.
Method 4: Configure Windows Firewall Manually
Open Start menu, search for Windows Firewall.
Go to Advanced Settings > Inbound Rules > New Rule.
Choose Port, click Next.
Select TCP and enter ports based on your QuickBooks version:
2020 and later: 8019 and dynamic ports
2019: 8019 and dynamic ports
2018: 8019, 56728, 55378-55382
2017: 8019, 56727, 55373-55377
Click Next > Allow the connection > Next.
Check all profiles > Next.
Name the rule and click Finish.
Method 5: Clean Install QuickBooks
Open Start menu, search Control Panel.
Go to Programs and Features > Uninstall a program.
Select QuickBooks and click Uninstall/Change.
Follow prompts to remove QuickBooks.
Reinstall QuickBooks Desktop.
Method 6: Repair QuickBooks Desktop
Open Control Panel > Programs and Features.
Select QuickBooks and click Uninstall/Change.
Choose Repair and click Next.
After the repair, restart your computer.
Method 7: Clear SSL State in Internet Explorer
Open Internet Explorer.
Click Gear icon > Internet Options > Content tab.
Click Clear SSL State and confirm.
Close and restart Internet Explorer.
Try updating QuickBooks again.
